ECCP to expand IT assistance to local firms

EITSC was behind 'Team Europe', a government-private sector coalition that pushed RP as the ideal outsourcing destination for European companies.The European Chamber Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) is revamping its information-technology (IT) center to expand assistance to other industries.

The European IT Service Center (EITSC), established in 2002, will now be known as the European Innovation, Technology and Science Center (EITSC).

The EITSC will work beyond assisting enterprises in the IT and business- process outsourcing (BPO) industries, ECCP said in a statement. It will now provide trainings and consultancies on energy efficiency, sustainable environment, global health, materials solutions, and food security to local companies.

“The potential of Europe as a partner for the Philippines goes beyond IT. It is this realization that triggered the expansion of the scope of work being done by the EITSC,” said ECCP executive vice president Henry Schumacher.

Schumacher said the new EITSC will identify relevant technologies from Europe that can be used to develop Philippine industries and enterprises. “It will also provide trainings to ensure that the Filipino professionals are able to address the needs of their respective industries.” Read more...
