The tower is slated to become “one of the first green buildings inside Fort Bonifacio” once it is completed by October 2011, Megawide Construction said. The Taguig building will be fitted with windows claimed to reduce power consumption by 25%, a rain collector for water recycling, and a “virtual garden wall.” “This building is due for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification of Gold Standard,” the construction firm added, referring to a globally recognized seal awarded to energy-efficient structures. Suyen Corp., the company behind the homegrown Bench clothing brand, has tapped Megawide Construction Corp. to build its proposed P710-million, 23-storey headquarters at Fort Bonifacio, the contractor firm said in a statement yesterday.
