uk_mapMANILA, Philippines — To create awareness on major economic opportunities to invest in low carbon, the British Embassy in Manila, along with the United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI), is set to hold a series of events promoting renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure and low emission transportation.

The events, dubbed Climate Solutions: Advancing Low Carbon Business, will be attended by business leaders and experts including British Business delegations, representatives of local government units and non-government organizations.

The British Embassy said the global market value of low carbon environmental goods and services is estimated to be up to £3.2 trillion, of which the UK's share is worth up to £112 billion employing close to a million British people--around three percent of all jobs.

Carbon finance sustainable construction and wind power supply chains represent growing sectors where UK firms are benefiting.

The embassy said that since 2008, it has supported projects which raised the level of public awareness on different climate change issues such as the promotion of low carbon technologies and businesses, helped the development of science-based policy planning on climate change adaptation and climate sensitive policies.
