British Charge d’Affaires Trevor Lewis said the embassy now welcomes proposals under the United Kingdom Government’s Prosperity Fund, Human Rights and Democracy (HRD) Fund and the Bilateral Programme Budget between 2012-13. “We are very keen to support a range of projects to run from April 2012 to March 2013. We want to identify innovative one-year projects that will address important issues in the areas of human rights, economic reform, climate change and peace building. If you have a good idea, please do share it with us,” Lewis said on Thursday. He said proposals for the prosperity fund were now open. Previous allocations have ranged from £13,000 to £100,000, and the preference is for projects with a regional impact that necessitates funding toward or beyond the given upper range, he said. Trevis also said Britain will also give priority to programs that focus on key economic and government issues, such as those promoting public-private partnerships; combating corruption and bribery; improving education policy and outcomes; developing stable legal and regulatory frameworks for investment; and encouraging open and equitable multilateral trade and investment policies.
