PROGRAMME FOR 16 NOVEMBER PHILIPPINE BUSINESS FORUM:

The Business Processing Association of the Philippines and the Commission on Information and Communications Technology, in cooperation with the Philippine Trade & Investment Center in London, will be holding a seminar and networking event for Offshoring & Outsourcing.

There will be a morning seminar on 16 November followed by a networking event in the afternoon and business matching meetings and 17 November.

Companies participating in the business matching meetings are:

Commission on Information and Communication Technology of the Philippines (CICT)

The Commission on Information and Communications Technology is the primary policy, planning, coordinating, implementing, regulating, and administrative entity of the executive branch of the Philippine Government that promotes, develops, and regulates integrated and strategic ICT systems and reliable and cost-efficient communication facilities and services.

Its mission is to develop the country as a world-class ICT services provider, provide government services to stakeholders online, provide affordable Internet access to all segments of the population, develop an ICT enabled workforce, and create an enabling legal and regulatory environment.

The CICT envisions the Philippines to become an electronically enabled society where the citizens live in an environment that will encourage and promote the access to technologies providing quality education, efficient government service, greater sources of livelihood, and, ultimately, a better way of life.

Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP)

The Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) is the umbrella organization representing the entire Philippine offshoring and outsourcing industry. BPAP’s thrust is to promote the competitive advantages and the growth potential of the Philippines in existing and new areas of outsourcing. It also supports the industry in areas such as offshore marketing, education and training, security and privacy, legislation and public policy, among others.

It is composed of 248 companies which are engaged in business process outsourcing (BPO), other IT-enabled service providers (ITES) and other stakeholders from allied support industries such as telecommunications, real-estate, technology providers, staffing and training.

BPAP is a private non-stock non-profit organization with direct and association members such as the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), Medical Transcription Industry Association of the Philippines (MTIAPI), Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI), and the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP).

The association is involved in helping new and existing members with their business matching needs. Together with the Philippine government, BPAP leads local talent recruitment and development as well as international marketing campaigns.

Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP)

The Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP) is the official organization of contact centers in the Philippines. Its mission is to promote the Philippines as the country-of-choice for contact center services, develop professional standards and practices, organize learning and networking events, and work with various stakeholders to further the industry’s contribution to the national economy and strengthen its market position worldwide. Established in October 2001 by seven founding member companies, CCAP now counts 53 outsource and in-house contact centers as members, representing more than 80% of call center seats in the Philippines.

The Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI)

The Animation Council of the Philippines is a non-stock and non-profit organization whose member companies specialize mainly in, but not limited to, either 2D or 3D animation.

It is an organization recognized and supported by the Philippine government whose aim is to promote the Animation Industry globally with the intention of creating an identity for the Philippines to be considered amongst the preferred countries that service the animation industry. As an organized body, ACPI aims to promote the Filipino talent both locally and internationally. With the cooperation of its members as well as the Philippine government, it is envisioned that the member studios will be considered competitive both creatively and technologically.

Animation Industry Profile

The sophisticated talent and creative instinct of Filipino animators make the Philippines the preferred outsourcing partner of big international production outfits worldwide. Aside from lower costs of services, big companies rely on us due to our English proficiency, consistent quality and speed in delivering output, and ability to comprehend concepts and story lines better than our Asian counterparts. The Philippines has been providing animation services to the world for over 20 years now.

At present, there are about fifty small and medium animation studios in the country providing jobs to 5, 000 local animators directly and indirectly involved in animation. Industry players are service providers, local sub-contractors and non-commercial producers. In 2006, the industry earned about 65 million dollars in revenues, almost double the total revenues from animation exports in 2001. Philippine animation has a solid growth phase of 25% yearly.

The promotion of the country’s animation industry is supported by the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI), a 40-member association of animation companies. ACPI’s mission is to promote and market the Philippine animation industry here and abroad. Aside from conducting workshops to Filipino animators, ACPI has partnered with educational institutions like TESDA or Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in developing the training regulations and helping in coming up with the assessment tools for schools and other institutions who want to offer animation courses. The industry hopes to graduate 25,000 fresh, industry-ready animators by 2010 to be able to handle the global business demand.

Philippine animation services include full 2D and 3D animation, including pre and post production services such as lay-outing, in-betweening, clean-up, digital background through scanning and pre-compositing, color styling, special effects creation, and digital ink and paint application, to flash animation and web design, graphic and art design, mobile applications, 3D gaming both for consoles and PC platforms, interactive games and e-Learning modules that require animation and animation training.
